Studio Bowl 01 with diamond powered artistic interventions

Characterized by trapped micro-bubbles ground down to reveal a layered topographic texture underneath.

This piece came out of the kiln with micro-bubbles trapped under the glaze. This was due to the pigment reacting violently to something and releasing gas that the viscous molden glass (glaze) captured. I went in with my diamond tool, ground away those bubbles to reveal the underlying textures that resemble topographic maps. The experience was like drawing on glass. Hence, the artistic intervention title.

Slip cast in fine porcelain from a mold I made. The marbling pattern is created by swirling pigmented clay during the pouring process, resulting in a pattern that is integral to the body of the bowl. No two bowls are identical in height, as each one captures a unique moment in the production process.
